Day 10- Ruyiqing Exhibition Center

This morning we visited Ruyqing Group Marketing Exhibition Center. This is a huge company that grows, processes and packages their produce and other goods including mushrooms, plum and wine. First built in 1994, their are 10 divisions in China including one in Japan. Each division specializes in some kind of product. Japan and China collaborated to run a buiness in China. Japan plays a very important role in their business practices from how to run the company to improving food safety procedures. Quality control is their number one concern. Pre and post testing are done and if shipping goods to Japan produce are tested using the Japanese quality control standard. An X-ray machine is also used to detect for small pieces of pits inside of the plums before they're packaged. Plums are salted and dried out on the sun. Sugar and salt are added for flavor. It was such a surprise to see my favorite snack! Seedlings, growth, processing and packaging are all done in one area. Some of their goods produced are branded and sold in another province. They graft vegetables and fruit for disease managememt and to improve yield. Eggplant Seedling system is completely automated and grafting is done by hand. Three machines, two for small seeds and one for bigger seeds are used. Seeds are placed in germination growing chambers where humidity and temp are controlled to increase germination. A misting system is also turned on periodically.
